Yemen

Yemen is a country located at the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia, bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, the Red Sea to the west, the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden to the south, and Oman to the east. The capital city, Sana’a, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, known for its stunning architecture and historical significance. Yemen’s modern history has been turbulent, with political instability and conflict significantly impacting its development and humanitarian situation.

Economically, Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the Arab world, heavily reliant on declining oil reserves and facing challenges such as water scarcity and a lack of basic infrastructure. The country’s rich cultural heritage includes the ancient Kingdom of Sheba and the distinctive, multi-story mud-brick buildings of Shibam. Yemen’s diverse geography ranges from desert landscapes and mountain ranges to fertile valleys, which support the cultivation of crops like coffee, one of its traditional exports. Despite its current challenges, Yemen remains a country with deep historical roots and a strong cultural identity.
