Nicknamed “Lefty” for his left-handed swing, despite being right-handed, Mickelson turned professional in 1992 after a standout amateur career, which included winning the NCAA Championship and the U.S. Amateur. He has won 45 PGA Tour events, including six major championships: three Masters titles, two PGA Championships, and one Open Championship.

His victory at the 2021 PGA Championship made him the oldest major champion in history at age 50. Known for his aggressive style and short game prowess, Mickelson has become a fan favorite. Off the course, he is recognized for his philanthropy and has founded the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation.
