Jordan, officially the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is a nation in Southwest Asia. Located on the east bank of the Jordan River, it borders Israel and the Palestinian territories to the west, Syria to the north, Iraq to the east, and Saudi Arabia to the south. With a population of over 10 million, Jordan is an Arab country with a rich history dating back thousands of years.
The country’s landscape is known for its deserts, mountains, and the Dead Sea, a salt lake lying at the lowest point on Earth. Jordan is also home to Petra, an archaeological city carved into rose-red sandstone cliffs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
