Jack Patrick Dorsey (born November 19, 1976) is an American technology entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is best known as a co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, the globally-used social media platform. Additionally, Dorsey is the founder and CEO of Block, Inc. (formerly Square), a financial payments company.
Dorsey’s early interest in dispatch routing software developed while attending Bishop DuBourg High School. He later attended both Missouri University of Science and Technology and New York University but did not complete his degree. In 2000, while working in California, he conceived the idea for a short-messaging service, which ultimately evolved into Twitter.
Dorsey is was also involved in Bluesky, a project aiming to create a decentralized social media protocol designed to provide greater user control and flexibility.
Not a fan, but at least he acknowledges that Musk turned Twitter (now X) into a true free speech platform
