Florence Griffith-Joyner, commonly known as “Flo-Jo,” was an American track and field athlete, born on December 21, 1959, in Los Angeles, California. She is celebrated for her extraordinary achievements in sprinting, particularly at the 1988 Seoul Olympics where she won three gold medals in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4×100 meter relay, and a silver in the 4×400 meter relay. Griffith-Joyner set world records for the 100 meters and 200 meters, which still stand today. Known for her flamboyant style and iconic one-legged race suits, she became a popular figure in athletics. Her sudden retirement in 1989 and untimely death in 1998 have left a lasting legacy in the world of track and field.
