Erin Brockovich

Erin Brockovich is an American legal clerk and environmental activist, whose notable work in building a case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in 1993 brought her to national attention. Despite lacking formal legal education, Brockovich was instrumental in constructing a successful case for the residents of Hinkley, California, who had been affected by contaminated water. Her efforts resulted in a substantial settlement of $333 million from PG&E, the largest of its kind at the time. Her story inspired the 2000 film “Erin Brockovich,” starring Julia Roberts. Brockovich has since continued her advocacy for environmental and consumer protection, becoming a prominent speaker and author.
