Changpeng Zhao, commonly known as “CZ,” is a Chinese-Canadian business executive who is the founder of Binance, one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges. Born in Jiangsu, China, Zhao moved to Canada with his family during his teenage years. He graduated from McGill University in Montreal, where he studied computer science. Before founding Binance in 2017, Zhao held various software development roles, including at the Tokyo Stock Exchange and Bloomberg Tradebook. Zhao stepped down as CEO of Binance in November 2023 as part of an agreement with the U.S. government following charges related to money laundering. Despite this, Zhao remains a significant force in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industries.

An important figure for the crypto space. Forever thankful for how companies like Binance have pushed crypto into everyday life. But I don’t totally agree with many decisions he made and how he, to some extent, controlled the market.
