Ashraf Ghani is a prominent political figure known for serving as the President of Afghanistan from September 2014 to August 2021. Born on May 19, 1949, in Logar, Afghanistan, he holds a PhD in anthropology from Columbia University. Ghani’s tenure as president was marked by efforts to rebuild the country amidst ongoing conflicts and to establish a strong central government. He was also heavily involved in negotiating with the Taliban for peace. His presidency ended when he left the country during the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul in 2021.
