Sen’s work in famine, poverty, and inequality has been profoundly influential in shaping development economics. Notably, his book “Development as Freedom” argues that true development is measured not only by economic growth but also by the enhancement of human capabilities and freedoms. Sen has also contributed to the fields of ethics and political philosophy, exploring issues of justice and equality in society. His academic career has spanned global institutions, including Harvard and Cambridge.
